Publication in “Gene Therapy” for LVF Scholar
Slawomir Andrzejewski had great success in April with international publication of his first manuscript in the prestigious journal “Gene Therapy”, published by Nature. His research, which was all performed at the Layton Vision Foundation in Brisbane, describes progress towards permanent cures for diabetic retinopathy.
The paper, “Adeno-Associated virus neutralising antibodies in type 1 diabetes mellitus” addresses one of the principle challenges in bringing gene therapy to the clinic. Slawomir says he is well underway with a follow-up paper focusing further on the same issue in the ocular environment, which he will present at the British Society of Gene and Cellular Therapy Meeting in June.
